Adventurous captains can once again set sail at the Spiezer playground
Unique. Exclusive. Imaginative. The new steamboat brings immense joy at the Blümlisalp playground.
The Spiez municipality in Swiss Canton Bern is a highly popular excursion destination among domestic and international visitors. The Spiezer Bucht with its pier for BLS Schifffahrt Thuner- & Brienzersee is a particular visitor magnet. The local recreation area offers a diverse leisure programme, including a swimming pool, minigolf facility, skate park, smaller shops, and a playground. Nine out of ten invited companies participated in the official tendering procedure for the latter’s general overhaul. Borer Lift AG, part of the Sunkid world, prevailed.
Since ships are very important in Spiez, the entire adventure and experience playground was re-designed based on the subject of shipping in cooperation with Almholz. The playground’s highlight is the new “beached” Wood’n’Fun steamboat Blümlisalp, the flagship of Thunersee-Schifffahrt. The ship was planned specifically and individually for this project, made of weather-resilient larch wood, and taken into operation at the playground. The playing area also contains a megaphone, a swing, a water fountain in a sandbox and benches.
Novel and innovative elements, coupled with “must-have components”, were the criteria set and achieved. All parties are happy and rejoice in seeing children once again wildly playing in the bay.
