Sunkid Moving Carpet with blue gallery for Sugarloaf Mountain (USA)
“Maine’s biggest ski resort” Sugarloaf is located in the heart of Carrabassett Valley, surrounded by Maine's Western Mountains. Sports enthusiasts and mountain lovers can find a wide range of outdoor activities here all year round, like golf or mountain biking in summer, as well as on and off-piste skiing in winter.
Especially in winter, the resort has a special charm for winter sports enthusiasts of all skill levels (54 % beginner and intermediate, 46 % advanced and expert only terrain), featuring the only lift-serviced, above-treeline skiing in the East.
Ideally located for families with children, next to a food court and accommodation area, and easy to reach for less experienced skiers, via the groomed “Birches Trail”, the ski resort opened their latest surface lift attraction.
The so-called “Moosecalator” in the beginner area of Sugarloaf’s ski and snowboard school “Perfect Turn” is a modern, 400-feet / 120 meters long Moving Carpet by Austrian world market leader Sunkid. First and foremost, the conveyor is used by ski instructors and rookies, but it is open to all guests of the Sugarloaf resort.
The project was realized by Sunkid's North American subsidiary, Star Lifts. Precisely configured to the needs of the customer in terms of capacity and maximum flexibility, the tried and tested Blue Eye belt surface (750 mm) offers a slip-proof uphill ride.
For maximum comfort in any weather, the carpet is covered by a full-length Evolus M gallery, with blue polycarbonate panels, giving it a special, corporate design compliant look. Three emergency exits with sliding doors provide additional safety.
Thanks to the roofing of both the entrance and exit areas, including hinged doors for secure overnight locking, the lift staff profit from a snow-free belt every morning. For a guaranteed fast start of operation and happy faces all day long. Like at the official opening together with Sugarloaf's fun-loving friends: Blueberry the Bigelow Bear, Pierre Dubois the Lumberjack, Lemon the Yellow Nosed Vole and of course Amos the Moose, who lend his name to this family friendly lift solution.
