Folgaria has been one of Sunkid's customers for more than 10 years and to date operates eight Moving Carpet lifts - three of which are equipped with a gallery. Another of these covered conveyor belts was newly put into operation for the 2011 winter season, thus enabling the ski area to be expanded in the direction of Veneto.
Folgaria is located in Trentino, northeast of Lake Garda, and is a ski area that has grown considerably in recent years. This is due to the fact that this ski area is considered one of the southernmost in the Alps and can therefore be reached relatively quickly by many residents of the Po Valley. On the other hand, in addition to a high snow guarantee, it also offers excellent and modern lifts for all winter sports enthusiasts. Therefore, the operators decided to increase the attractiveness of this ski area and to extend it with another three chairlifts at the beginning of this year's ski season. In order to realize this plan, a gap had to be closed in the form of a conveyor belt at Passo Coe. As a reliable partner in previous projects, Sunkid was awarded the contract for the construction of this "missing link".
In order to be able to reach the newly developed area in the direction of the Alpe Fiorentini in the Veneto, winter sports enthusiasts now have a Sunkid Moving Carpet with a length of 160 meters at their disposal which ends directly at the saddle of Passo Coe. A 22 KW motor drives the conveyor belt with a belt width of 600 millimeters. Due to the exposed position above the tree line, the Sunkid Moving Carpet was equipped with a gallery that offers users comfortable protection from wind and weather. But the operator also benefits from this protection, as it reduces conveyor belt maintenance to a minimum by eliminating the need for snow cleaning prior to operation.
Thanks to the gallery's clear, 3mm thick UV-resistant polycarbonate panels, winter sports enthusiasts enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. In addition, an interior width of 2.2 m and an interior height of 2.3 m ensure a generous feeling of space. The Sunkid Gallery can be installed on any model of Sunkid Moving Carpet and can also be retrofitted to existing installations. The individual elements consist of an aluminum profile and weigh only approximately 25kg. The use of this high-quality construction material thus enables simple and quick installation on the one hand and guarantees high stability and durability on the other. Due to the proven modular construction, concave and convex terrain is no obstacle for the Sunkid Gallery. Due to self-retracting tarpaulins at the exits, the gallery can be opened easily, simply and quickly, even at low temperatures and with gloves on. In the valley and at the top of the facility, the gallery is closed overnight by means of lockable gates.
