Sella Nevea is located at the most northeastern point of Italy in close proximity to Tarvis. The pass is located in the middle of a unique environment below the Prevala basin , where the lowest situated glacier in Europe is located. Among the slopes of the ski area, the Pista del Canin is probably the most famous. It is the venue of numerous Italian ski championships. However, even in skiing "no master has fallen from the sky". For this reason, a Sunkid Moving Carpet in the valley area has been making it easier to learn to ski since the last winter season.
Encouraged by the positive experience of the previous year's project in Ravascletto Zoncolan, as well as six other joint projects with Sunkid, those responsible at Promotur also decided to replace the existing Ski Lift in the beginners' area in Sella Nevea with a new conveyor belt with a roof from Sunkid. The most important requirements for the conveyor lift were, in addition to the necessary safety regulations and a roof, above all a wider conveyor belt of 750mm, as well as a higher travel speed of 1.2 m/s in order to achieve an appropriate capacity. Within the framework of a public tender, Sunkid was once again able to prevail against strong competition and realize this project.
Conveyor belt as ski lift replacement
The 177-meter Moving Carpet, which is powered by a 30KW motor, has already been built in accordance with the future European standard EN15700. As the only conveyor belt manufacturer to date, Sunkid developed a new type of front exit solution in cooperation with the safety authorities that allows a travel speed of 1.2 m/s, thus meeting the highest possible safety standard. This newly developed exit also reduces shutdowns - especially when transporting pedestrians. The higher speed reduces travel time, allowing even longer distances to be covered quickly and comfortably. Another advantage has proven to be that the Sunkid Moving Carpet achieves a much higher capacity than the previous Ski Lift.
The new conveyor lift is used more frequently by novice skiers and snowboarders than the Ski Lift previously in use. The operators attribute this to the greater ease of use and comfort. Guests feel particularly comfortable because of the Sunkid Gallery. This allows a magnificent view of the unique panorama in good weather, but at the same time protects guests from wind, snow, rain and cold in bad weather. For the operator, snow cleaning on the track is no longer necessary, thus facilitating maintenance and service.
